The only barometers of success for a youth coach should be player retention & growth, and how many are still involved as a player, coach, referee or administrator. I think Padraig Harrington said it best, help them fall in love with the game & then you have them for life.

S&C Coach reveal I don’t assess change of direction. I now don’t really care about it that much unless it’s absolutely way out of whack for an individual. It’s a bang for buck thing. At least in a low resourced situation. Yip, you 100% can assess it, you can do some

It is imperative in science to doubt; it is absolutely necessary, for progress in science, to have uncertainty as a fundamental part of your inner nature.

It’s so disappointing when real professionals with proper research approach and morals(it seemed) sell out for the exposure from these gangster podcasters. instagram.com/p/C_-4strMaU4/…

I was speaking on a podcast last night and got asked an interesting question: "If you could change 1 thing about sport what would it be?". "Get rid of the Performance Pathway concept for kids under 14 or 15 years of age", I replied. Up until their mid-teens, make sport about

Leftism begins as compassion for the poor, but ends as contempt for the prosperous. Rightism begins as respect for the past, but ends as revulsion for the present. Each side grows to loathe the other’s values more than it prizes its own. Politics devours love, and defecates hate.

This is crucial here that a group continue to analyse the game. However, it’s an absolute farcical situation where the people who complain about football the most - hurling people - get to destroy any vote to possibly help it. There is a constant fear in hurling of football.

Zone 2 training should be part of any regular training program, whether you're training for performance or health. It builds the foundation for better recovery, endurance, and overall fitness.

Most of this makes a lot of sense. I’ve been banging this drum for years. GAA players and teams train too much and too hard around games. Games are not the issue irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid…

One of the hardest things to do is to get players to think big picture Data, of some sort, is crucial to paint true pictures and maintain motivation

I’ve watched or analysed games in recent weeks in the top 3 grades of Dublin Club Football Championship There is absolutely nothing wrong with football when you watch those games. Dynamic, attacking, loads of contests. Teams are very tactically astute, but also skilful.

You have to laugh at the irony. Forcing any sport on anyone is a farcical approach. This will fail. Create clubs for sure, but trying to force hurling on people (or any sport) is just unbelievably naive and probably more damaging long term. It’s already called with multiple

The thing about this information and any data really, is that it is knowledge OF the game. To develop knowledge IN the game, we need to practice the game in all its variants. And nothing else. The players learn in the game. Everything is supportive evidence of performance.
