We had orange WHSmith sets. We only used the compasses to carve band names on, and make holes in the lid.
These went with our wallpaper covered text books into our sand yellow, rough canvas Millets rucksacks, also decorated with band names and logos in Biro.

Still living the 90s dream 30 years on.
