UK Launch issue No 1 of Working Woman, September 1986. Launched independently by Audrey Slaughter who had achieved success by understanding young women – transforming and informing Honey, Petticoat and Over 21. But the concept of a mag for the ‘career girl’ was one leap too many.

Just as a matter of interest, John Peel, DJ, journo, presenter, born 1939, died 2004 in Cusco, Peru. Cusco is a city notable for an 18thC painting of The Last Supper, in the Cathedral – what were they eating? Unmistakably a tasty cuy (guinea pig).

Clearly from the #GilbertJessop, rather than the Sir Geoffrey Boycott, school of batsmanship. And I love the nonchalance of first slip, standing there with his cup of squash. Proper #cricket!!

Born #OTD 1981, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. ‘Beyonce’ is a cultural powerhouse. Since her early rise to fame in Destiny’s Child, she’s sold squillions of records, dominated live performance, and become one music’s most influential artists. Been on a few magazine covers too.
