Beginning to get really in to Sphagnums now. 12 species recorded in West Norfolk today (out of a possible 17 in the area), including the very pretty Sphagnum compactum at a couple of sites

Somewhat inspired by Calum Urquhart's Sphagnum-finding, I went out & collected some Sphagnums earlier today during a break in report writing, IDed them just now as another wee break: Sphagnum capillifolium, S. fallax, S. compactum, S. palustre & S. tenellum.

Hypopterygium flavolimbatum sensu Kruijer (2002). H. japnicum and H. fauriei are synonym of this. In Japan, the habitat of H. japonicum is almost only calcareous aria, H. faurieri is not like the habitat. H. japonicum have straw color seta, H. fauriei have red corlor.

Another Bryum capillare – capillary threadmoss – on an urban wall. A species you can easily detect in almost every city.

The green and brown Frullania tamarisci – Tamarisk Scalewort – thriving on bark in a moist lowland riparian forest. Holidays in Ireland 😍.
