I am intensely saddened by the tragic loss of one of our Royal Navy personnel, following the incident in the English Channel last night. It is a huge shock to us all in the Naval Community, and our thoughts and condolences go out to the family at this time.

Tributes have poured in for Lt Rhodri Leyshon, the Royal Navy officer who died in a training exercise in the English Channel. Lt Leyshon, 31, was described by the MOD as "one of the Commando Helicopter Force's most trusted and highly capable aircraft captains and instructors."
