Check our our new preprint describing Personalized Molecular Signatures of Insulin Resistance and Type 2 Diabetes. Lead by brilliant PhD student Jeppe Kjærgaard Larsen this marks our first major steps toward disentangling insulin resistance. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…
In this new review, we highlight the performance-enhancing effects of inhaled beta2-agonists and present a nuanced view on their potential benefits in sports. We also raise awareness of associated anti-doping challenges. doi.org/10.1111/sms.14… #CleanSports #Asthma Søren Jessen
Check out recent review in Diabetologia highlighting power of proteomics in precision diabetes medicine. Huge kudos to Nigel Kurgan for exceptional work in literature mining and beutiful figures, supported by Jeppe Kjærgaard Larsen. link.springer.com/article/10.100…
While effects were not additive, we also did not observe any blunted effects with co-ingestion, why supplementation with both creatine and caffeine is probably advisable in sports that involve both sprints and more sustained high-intensity efforts. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/sm… our 6 hour cycling field study is now online - hope you will enjoy Institut for Idræt og Ernæring #cycling #sjmss
Check out out new preprint in collaboration with Morten Hostrup - Muscle fiber proteomics reveals sex- and fiber type-specific adaptations to resistance training biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Do men and women respond equally to resistance exercise? What about fiber type, does it play a role in the training adaptations? Check out our latest preprint where together with Lukas Moesgaard, atul deshmukh and Morten Hostrup we use proteomics to answer these questions!
In this collaborative effort with Søren Jessen atul deshmukh et al, we show that beta2-agonist (asthma) inhaler💊 mimics aspects of strength training🏋️♀️: hypertrophy & ribosomal proteins⬆️. This supports the restrictions for beta2-agonists in sports. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
Salbutamol is an equal mix of 2 chemically-identical, mirror-image molecules: (R)- & (S)-salbutamol. This study found that salbutamol's anabolic properties can potentially be amplified with chiral switch (R)-salbutamol, & this is a concern for #antidoping. …iencejournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/dt…
Reducing the mitochondrial oxidative burden alleviates lipid-induced muscle insulin resistance in humans science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… New paper out today in Science Advances 1/10 🧵👇
Fibrates as a cure in type 1 diabetes??💊 Despite preclinical promise🐭, our RCT found no clinical benefit of fenofibrate on beta cell function or glycemic control after 52 weeks but increased beta cell stress markers. rdcu.be/dZ7aJ. Diabetologia
