Do men and women respond equally to resistance exercise? What about fiber type, does it play a role in the training adaptations? Check out our latest preprint where together with Lukas Moesgaard, atul deshmukh and Morten Hostrup we use proteomics to answer these questions!

In this collaborative effort with @Soren_Jessen atul deshmukh et al, we show that beta2-agonist (asthma) inhaler💊 mimics aspects of strength training🏋️♀️: hypertrophy & ribosomal proteins⬆️. This supports the restrictions for beta2-agonists in sports. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Salbutamol is an equal mix of 2 chemically-identical, mirror-image molecules: (R)- & (S)-salbutamol. This study found that salbutamol's anabolic properties can potentially be amplified with chiral switch (R)-salbutamol, & this is a concern for #antidoping. …iencejournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/dt…

Reducing the mitochondrial oxidative burden alleviates lipid-induced muscle insulin resistance in humans science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… New paper out today in Science Advances 1/10 🧵👇

Fibrates as a cure in type 1 diabetes??💊 Despite preclinical promise🐭, our RCT found no clinical benefit of fenofibrate on beta cell function or glycemic control after 52 weeks but increased beta cell stress markers. rdcu.be/dZ7aJ. Diabetologia

Excited to our manuscript where we used cutting-edge proteomics to map human & bacterial proteomes in saliva, revealing signatures of #Type2Diabetes Arricle- rdcu.be/d5U3u Video- shorturl.at/cSUCD I am very grateful to my collaborators NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) Proteomics Research Infrastructure (PRI)

Definitely worth a read! The Annual Banned-Substance Review is a great resource for staying up to date on recent #antidoping research and advances, including new data on established doping agents and new potentially relevant substances. Only 8 weeks resistance training🏋️ effectively enhances the muscles ability to regulate intracellular calcium in elite rowers. This likely benefits muscle contraction speed and relaxation during strokes⚡️🚣♀️. Great work Niels Ørtenblad, Joachim Nielsen et al💪doi.org/10.1111/sms.70…

I am excited to share our latest publication in Science Advances! We mapped the proteome of interstitial fluid across the leg in response to exercise, discovered immune cell derived peptide regulating muscle growth Morten Hostrup NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) Proteomics Research Infrastructure (PRI) science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

💪🩹 Our immune cells might support muscle repair after exercise! 🔬 atul deshmukh , Morten Hostrup and Ben Stocks have identified a protein released from immune cells following exercise-induced muscle damage, which supports muscle cell repair and development. 🤝 This

Excited to share our manuscript, where we analyzed >1,000 single muscle fibers by transcriptomics and proteomics revealing unexpected heterogeneity beyond myosin isoforms. Huge team efforts, thanks to everyone involved. Proteomics Research Infrastructure (PRI) NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) nature.com/articles/s4146…

Excited, share this review article with Morten Hostrup, where we discuss fiber type–specific muscle adaptations to exercise using single-fiber and pooled fiber proteomics. Review also highlights key bioinformatics/statistical considerations! doi.org/10.1111/sms.70…
