Catherine Rampell I remember raising my son alone. I couldn’t understand why my parents lived 4 hours away and paternal grandparents were 12 hours away in Florida. Too bad JD wasn’t in Middletown OH then.- I could have dropped son off with JDs wife while my loser self worked.

Catherine Rampell That's what I was saying when I saw it. Like he wants us to dig up our dead grandparents to come watch our kids. It's not beyond him to say that at this point honestly.
Catherine Rampell I mean, yeah. Both of my parent passed away at a fairly young age. (48 & 66) My oldest was only 12 when Mom moved on. I literally can’t seek help from my parents for childcare. It’s ludicrous, insulting and … hurtful.
Catherine Rampell Well, did his sister use their mother for childcare 11+ years ago? Probably not. She wasn't retired and was in the throes of addiction. So, he should know that isn't always an option. Is she doing it for him now, since she's 10 years sober? No. So, he can kindly be quiet.
Catherine Rampell I didn't have any family within 1,000 miles for the first 7 years. I pulled myself up from my apparently hard-left bootstraps and got it done. Was it easy? F no Some of us actually move around to make better lives for ourselves and kids and don't keep memaw and papaw in tow.
