Damn, the music for Severance is so good! It reminds me of a creepier version of the musical score for The Conversation.

Just watched Star Wars with my boys for the first time. They loved it, but they were very concerned for the creature in the trash compactor. They didn't want it to get squished.

A show that I really love is American Dad, but one thing that has always bothered me is that Bullock and Principal Lewis are basically the same character. Authority figures with commanding voices, but are actually psychotic hedonists.

I'll never get over the fact that, no matter who's in power, God’s forgiveness will always be radical. People will always resent it. Some believe they don't need it and that others don't deserve it. God says everyone needs it, nobody deserves it, but He still offers it.

Watching Jaws today and I am once again struck by just how swiftly this film moves. Just as we are beginning to fully comprehend one story beat, the next has already started. And yet somehow it never feels rushed. Everything just… flows. Such a masterpiece.

For 12 years, filmmakers have been using the Alien name to smuggle in Blade Runner stories. While these have been interesting, the unfortunate side effect has been the demystifying – and ultimate reduction – of the alien creature itself. Not worth it, in my opinion.

What are some obscure movies from this year that you recommend?

The thing I am most grateful to the new John Candy documentary for, it is the inclusion of the Yellowbelly sketch. Wonderful!
