Very excited to start a new experiment at the IMS of UoP Marine Biology with Zoe Morrall Prof Joanne Preston - Coastal Restoration Lab and Fiona Woods. We are currently measuring clearance and respiration rates of the #oysters before exposing them to different concentrations of #nitrates and #nitrites 😍🙌🏻

Such an emotional first week at the Horn Point Lab of UMCES! A roller coaster of #emotions missing my loved ones but also being thrilled to be here! Setting foot in the Horn Point #Oyster Hatchery was definitely the highlight of my week! Beautiful place and truly lovely people🙏

So happy to finally see how the awesome #hatchery team of the HornPointHatchery works and produces #oysters. A new production season has started and I had the chance to help the team with their daily tasks, from #spawning to #settlement. I'm amazed by their knowledge/experience!

I had so much fun observing the loading and planting of 280 bushels of #oyster spat-on-shell. I was amazed by the awesome collaboration between Oyster Recovery Partnership and Horn Point Hatchery and their incredibly hard work! They do this twice a week for months! 😮💪🦪 Olivia Caretti

Our first lab #experiment testing biological/chemical suitability of #alternative #substrates. Lots of #settled spat on all substrates thanks to Steph & Jeff Alexander and the awesome HornPointHatchery team. I'm now monitoring water quality, toxic leaching and #oyster survival 🥳

We finished our first #experiment! We successfully tested different alternative #substrates and their biological/chemical suitability for the use in #oyster #aquaculture, #restoration and harvest areas. Lots of spat survived and thrived on most of the substrates! 😍🦪 UMCES
