God's love seeks the enemy and is perfected in the enemy. If it were not for this, none of us could talk about God's love at all.

Hope is lived where we come out of our shells and participate in the life others, in both joy and pain.

God never gives up – never, in any circumstances.

Only life systems that are capable of suffering are capable of surviving, because they are the only ones that are prepared to learn and are open to change and renewal.

God's children live from a hard and costly love. It cost God the death of the Son.

If God were incapable of suffering in every respect, then he would also be incapable of love.

So the homogeneous community is not really a natural community at all. It is a community for the common suppression of fear through permanent self-corroboration – which means that it is a highly *un*natural community.

A proper theology would therefore have to be constructed in the light of its future goal. Eschatology should not be its end, but its beginning.

Jesus is God's Son. He makes visible to us what God intended when he created us to be his image.

The person who hopes for nothing cannot be disappointed either. But is he still a living person? He is more like a corpse.

Community in contradiction is often stronger than community in agreement.

Jesus did not not die cursing his enemies, but with a prayer for them on his lips.

This love does not mean accepting breaches of justice 'for the sake of peace', as we say. But it does not mean, either, breaking someone elses's peace for the sake of our own rights.

Great or small, man or woman, black or white, handicapped or non-handicapped – where God is known, the differences disappear and the democracy of the Holy Spirit begins.
