MNG Lab was very productive at APS Summit this year with 9 posters from my trainees Dr. Savannah Lusk, Nicoletta Memos, Dipak Patel and collaborator Chris Ward. Proud to see them sharing all their hard work and getting great feedback!

Great to see Nicoletta Memos, Dipak Patel giving short talks at APS that are creating a lot of excitement. Honored myself to have been selected to give a talk for the Advances in Physiological Omics session at APS summit

Gave one of the most nerve-racking talk of my career - at my daughters school for career day. Some how it went well and they loved the lemon-miracle berry demo (also worked well for my Principles of Neuroscience lecture later that afternoon and as a fun lab activity!)

Big thanks to Dr. Savannah Lusk for hosting the L.C. Bird Robohawks (buff.ly/3yHQewr), a high school team attending the World Championships for High School Robotics Teams in Houston that stopped by to see our Looper platform for #SIDS research.

New work from the Ray lab and Yuan Chang, in eLife - the journal shows that co-expressed glutamate in the central NA system is not required for normal respiratory function and chemosensory reflexes, a contrasting perspective to a widely held view in the field buff.ly/3Yb7CUF

Visiting Norway, nearly every hotel room had a bottle opener in the bathroom. Clearly the Norwegians have long known the restorative powers of the shower beer!

A major goal to end #SIDS is to improve the quality of information that comes from each SIDS event, including death scene investigation. Did a tough but key class on death scene investigation with Dr. Savannah Lusk and Danny Brewster from the Fort Bend Medical Examiner's Office.

Honored to to give a talk at the Soria Moria Meeting on Sudden Infant Death and Pediatric Forensic Challenges in Norway. Great reception for my team's work in #SIDS and very excited about developing new collaborations! Greatest honor was being included in Goldstein's composition

RIBT Study section is a lot of work and doing it virtual really diminishes the review experience, making that once a year chance to meet in person all the more special. Had a great time catching up with colleagues after a great day of deliberations.

Work hard, play hard: Blowing off some steam after a long slog of doing rocket surgery in lab. Why is it when we play the mafia game as a lab, I am always the first killed off? Lab telling me something??? Thanks to Dr. Savannah Lusk for hosting!

Posted a while back about renovations to the lab. Now the infrastructure is all in place for the physiology lab (wet bench side still to come). We have hardline piping, switching manifolds, Cat6 ethernet, and isolated circuits. Planning for something unconventional...

I am optimistic that #APS2025 will be a great meeting for the respiratory field. Just returned from the planning meeting as the Chair of the APS Respiratory Section Programming Committee. Lots to look forward to in Baltimore! Shout out to Doctora y Profesora - Patricia Silveyra and @ann_revill for help!
