السبب الرئيسي لانهيار الليرة هو حالة الافلاس لمصرف لبنان السبب الرئيسي لعدم تمكن المصارف من دفع ودائع الناس بالدولار هو ان مصرف لبنان لا يملك ال ٨٠ مليار دولار التي اودعتها لديه المصارف. افلاس مصرف مركزي حالة نادرة و عواقبه وخيمة الودائع لن ترجع لنعمل على نهوض الاقتصاد

مصرف لبنان تخلف عن دفع التزاماته تجاه المصارف في خريف ٢٠١٩ لانه اراد الاحتفاظ بما تبقى من امواله في الخارج المصارف بدأت التخلف عن الدفع تجاه المودعين بالتزامن الدولة تخلفت عن دفع ديونها الخارجية في اذار ٢٠٢٠ لان دفعها كان سيحصل من اموال مصرف لبنان الخارجية الافلاس ليس وجهة نظر
