ON THIS DAY: The Siege of Tobruk began on 10/4/1941, when German troops cut landward comms with the Libyan port. The Rats of Tobruk were to suffer at least 3,836 casualties, while 780 Allied naval service personnel would be killed or wounded. We salute you all. #lestweforget

Today we remember Australian SASR Trooper David O’Callaghan, who died on 16 April 1982 in a diving accident while participating in training in Bass Strait, Victoria. David was a private in 6RAR when he underwent SAS selection in 1980. Stand down, digger. RIP. #lestweforget

Today we honour the sacrifice of LCPL Jason Marks of 4RAR (Commando), who was killed in action during a firefight with Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan on 27 April 2008. Four other Aussie soldiers were seriously wounded. Thank you, Jason. Rest in peace. #lestweforget

Today we remember Australian soldiers LCPL Andrew Jones and LT Marcus Case, who died in separate incidents in Afghanistan on 30/5/11. Jones (9th Force Support Battalion) was killed in a green-on-blue attack, while Case (6th Aviation Regiment) died in a helo crash. Rest in peace.

In memory of Sappers Jacob Moerland and Darren Smith of Australia's 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment, who lost their lives in an IED explosion in Afghanistan on 7 June 2010. Explosives sniffer dog Herbie was also killed. Rest easy, Snowy and Smithy, your duty is done. #LestWeForget

ON THIS DAY: Australian POWs of the Korean War were released on 18 June 1953. 30 Australians were taken prisoner and one – 3RAR's PTE Horace Madden – died in captivity. There are still 43 Australian servicemen listed as MIA from the conflict. #LestWeForget
