Just finished this over the last few days, my interest being the young man (great uncle) died during the battle. He has no known grave like 80%, of the fallen. The book highlights bad decision-making, horrendous weather / battle field conditions. Worth a read.

Just received my copy of this fantastic book launched at the weekend. At over 520 pages it is a must for anyone interested in Irish Military History.

Andy Arnold WW1 Research Ireland Helion & Company Ltd I reviewed this for GWG's Salient Points. An excellent account of the extraordinarily difficult fighting by the Irish... at Langemarck...takes us through it stage by stage showing just what obstacles they faced and why Gough’s criticism was unjustified" The Great War Group

A tough thing to talk about publicly but I think it's necessary in the circumstances. NDNA made a commitment to 3 fully funded IVF cycles in 2020 - 4 years on we're only a fraction of the way forward with no finish line in sight.

Gave a talk last night on the Irish Divisions at Langemarck and afterwards was approached by two ladies who said, ‘ we usually have a sleep during the talk, but yours was very interesting.’ Praise indeed!

Off in a little bit to do justice to L/Cpl Fred Room VC, 2/Royal Irish Regiment as we unveil a Bristol Civic Society blue plaque on his former house in St George, Bristol. It’s the 107th anniversary of when he received his VC from the King on Durdham Down.

We’ve enjoyed a fabulous day remembering L/Cpl Fred Room VC at his former #Bristol home where a Bristol Civic Society blue plaque was unveiled. Photos on this link plus a detailed look at this remarkable man’s life. Please do RT as it’s been a lot of work! westernfrontfootsteps.com/frederick-room…
