It's like Hendrix Genetics read my mind, I was going to buy a new bottle but I got the perfect thank you gift for a recent presentation on DNA pooling. Thanks for inviting me.

Did you know Mendel's 200th anniversary is in 2022; just 2 weeks after #WCGALP2022? To celebrate, we give away a copy of the board game 'Genotype – a Mendelian Genetics Game’. To enter the contest, reply to this tweet within 2 weeks and include the title of your 4-page paper!🎲🧬

To geneticists, for my collection, I'm trying to get my hands on a original copy of Lush (1937) Animal Breeding Plans, Iowa State College Press. If you or somebody you know would consider selling one, please send me a message. At this stage I'd consider a 1943 reprint. Thanks!

We’re on the final straight, just 1 week left to submit your 4-page paper to wcgalp.com you don’t want to miss #WCGALP2022. With the clock ticking we hope your writing is as fast as the Dutch F1 driver Max Verstappen.

#WCGALP2022 is a HYBRID conference and the opportunity to participate online will be available to anybody that can’t make it to Rotterdam during the lovely Dutch summer. Make sure you submit your 4-page paper on January 12 at the latest.

Aussies love a rhetorical/sarcastic question to make a mundane or obvious statement. Examples: "How heavy's that rain?" and "How hot is it?". In dutch the question "What's the time?" directly translates to "How late is it?", it takes me a mo to realise they're not having a laugh.

Having meetings with scientists outside of your field is very rewarding. From my recent meeting I've decided I need a more interesting response to the inevitable questions on gene editing. Any good pointers?

I wanted to see the Breeding Program session but the room was packed full, so I decided to go see the Dairy session. Highly recommend making such a decision because I would have missed some other great talks.

My J-factor paper was published in GSE! A big thanks to Mario Calus, Vandenplas JΓ©rΓ©mie, Pascal Duenk #wur_abg Validation with single-step SNPBLUP shows that evaluations can continue using a single mean of genotyped individuals, even with multiple breeds. doi.org/10.1186/s12711…

It's my last day at #wur_abg, WUR Livestock!! I arrived days after finishing my PhD, and have done some great research over the nearly 6 years here. I'm very proud of the scientist I became with the help of Mario Calus, Yvette de Haas, Roel Veerkamp, and many others in Breed4Food.

1st day at AGBU_GENE has been a success!!! Excited to work on how breeding can contribute to a sustainable and resilient livestock industry in Australia. Plus I'll continue to work on methane mitigation. Hope you look forward to seeing what we contribute over the coming years.

If Musk follows through with the plan to charge users as announced today, you can find me on LinkedIn (link below). I can deal with seeing the occasional ad and having my data sold. I refuse to pay if those things are still happening. linkedin.com/in/mnaldridge/
