Today, we bid farewell to our Director General, Ms. Shafiya Naeem. Her leadership in mariculture research has been invaluable, guiding our institution for many years. We thank her for 24 years of dedicated service and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

Over the last two days, 15 field samplers from six major tuna landing sites were trained on data collection protocols to gather fishery and tuna length frequency data. MMRI is working with MSPEA to enhance efforts in collecting scientific data from tuna fisheries.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our DDG for Mariculture Research, Hassan Shakeel. A pioneer in mariculture, he dedicated 40 years to MMRI, mentoring many and shaping the field. May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give strength to his family and loved ones.

Exciting day for our fisheries research and field team. We held a training and familiarization workshop on fishery sampling protocols and guides for the field staff of TRANSFORM project and MMRI field team, before kick-starting this year's sampling activities.

Our field team from MMRI and the TransFORM Project kicked off this year's fishery sampling work at K. Huraa last week. The team acquired practical experience in the identification of species and the application of fishery sampling protocols.

The ReefSeed Demonstration Day was inaugurated by Minister of Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources , Ahmed Shiyam, marking a major step forward in reef restoration research and development in the Maldives.
