If things are going to truly even out, that is the first of a billion duck fart singles we're going to see off Riley's bat

Fried created thoughts of a no-no and more importantly looked like himself again in a second straight start mlb.com/news/max-fried…

Braves most recent no-hitters:
Kent Mercker April 8, 1994 vs. LAD
Mercker, Mark Wohlers and Alejandro Pena Sept. 11, 1991 vs. LAD
Phil Niekro Aug. 5, 1973 vs. SD

Fried threw 100 pitches while not allowing a hit or run over six innings. The curveball was nasty tonight. He's allowed three hits over 15 scoreless innings during his past two starts.

Acuña broke up Miller's no-hitter with an infield single and Albies followed with a RBI double. How a team went from scoring a billion in the first inning last year to scoring a billion after the seventh this year is a mystery.

The Braves have whiffed with 13 of 27 swings against Miller's fastball. Olson's 110 mph groundout in the fifth was the only triple-digit exit velo produced by Atlanta thus far

Fried has seven strikeouts and two walks through five scoreless. The only play involving a Braves outfielder thus far was Mitch Haniger's F9 in the fourth.

Fried's curveball is dancing as gracefully as the Braves OFs (well, some of them) after a win. 3 of the 9 he's thrown have been called strikes. The Mariners have whiffed with 2 of 3 swings against it. The curve and slider are plenty. No reason to see the sweeper ever again.

The Braves had two groundouts of 102+ mph in a scoreless seventh and the Guardians had three below freezing (exit velo below 32 mph) singles in their two-run eighth

Vogt and Olson said the Sale they saw last night looked pretty much like the one they faced during the pitcher’s best days mlb.com/news/chris-sal…

Sale has thrown 82 pitches through six. This would be his third straight start of at least seven innings. He's retired 14 straight and he's allowed just one hit since the leadoff homer

Ozuna has a MLB-best 31 RBIs (103 PA). The franchise record for any monthly total is held by Wally Berger, who had 38 RBIs (132 PA) in June 1935. ATL record: Freddie Freeman 33 RBIs (131 PA) in June 2019.

Sale has now allowed a leadoff homer in three (Schwarber, Semien and Kwan) of the five starts he's made this year. The only other homer he's allowed was hit by the second Marlins batter (Josh Bell) he faced on April 13.

Lance d’Arnaud asked his dying father for a sign that the afterlife exists. The sign seemed to come last Friday, when Travis d’Arnaud hit three homers on his late grandfather’s birthday mlb.com/news/travis-d-…

This week’s newsletter starts with a story about how Lance d’Arnaud asked for a sign of an afterlife just before his father passed in October. He received it when his son Travis enjoyed his three-homer game for the Braves last week links.mlb.mlbemail.com/e/evib?_t=c632…
