Organic conversations about mental health, disability justice, racial equity enlightened our learning space this year. They shared their intersectional identities when they felt safe. Perhaps local media can write a story about the beautiful humanity of Cathy Wever School students.

Earlier this week, elementary and secondary students with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities participated in HWDSB’s Access Athletics! Taking place during National Accessibility Week, the event is designed to support access to athletics for all students.

In June, we commemorate Indigenous Peoples Month (National Indigenous History Month) to recognize the heritage and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. As we look at the history, we must work towards reconciliation through peaceful and respectful relationships.

During Pride Month, we recognize and celebrate Two Spirit & LGBTQIA+ contributions and identities, and the allies who stand in solidarity. It's also a time of action; a time to raise awareness about the hate and violence toward Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ people and communities.
