I’ve worked in a school that was ‘stuck’ in ‘inadequate’. I saw brilliant classroom teachers convinced they weren’t good enough, constantly brought down in thinking they weren’t up to scratch. Some will quit, some will be forced out, others will have to take time off. And there

I can categorically tell you after working in 10+ schools over 16 years as a classroom teacher, each for months-years, all ‘rated’ from Inadequate through to Outstanding, that the grade had absolutely no relation to the behaviour of the students, the happiness of the staff or the

Tom Rogers I have seen this happen to brilliant teachers after a devastating OFSTED. One left the country and worked abroad. One told they weren't good enough, left, went to another school where their lessons were judged as outstanding. NQTs in tears. The whole situation was farcical.

Following a meeting of primary headteachers on Tuesday regarding Ofsted we issue this follow up statement. We call for urgent reform. The current system is inconsistent, damaging and discriminatory. Please share widely.

Today the National Education Union delivers our #ReplaceOfsted petition – signed by over 50K teachers and school leaders – to Department for Education. The profession has spoken – Ofsted is not fit for purpose. Click here to add our #ReplaceOfsted twibbon if you agree 👉 bit.ly/Ofsted-Twibbon

I have just signed the National Education Union Replace Ofsted petition. We must create a new accountability system that supports schools and pupils, not punishes them. replaceofsted.valueeducation.org.uk #LetTeachersTeach #ReplaceOfsted

If you think that teachers going on strike for better pay and working conditions negatively impacts a child's education, imagine a child having teachers who are overwhelmed and overworked because they have to work extra jobs, or that child not having a teacher because they quit.

Sue Cowley Ofsted If Ofsted want to regain the trust of primary colleagues the first thing they should do is make it a statutory requirement that the inspector has direct experience of working in the phase and type of school they’re inspecting. That would be a simple, quick win.

…culture eats strategy for breakfast! What is not in children’s best interests is head teacher burnout and beloved class teachers leaving. What is not in children’s interests is ploughing on with a pretence that this is the only approach to inspecting schools #ReplaceOfsted

Your deal does not serve children or teachers Gillian Keegan: ❌ No extra funding ❌ No plan for pay restoration ❌ No offer for Sixth Forms This is a bad deal. ❗️Teacher vacancies UP 93% on pre-covid ‼️ Schools will have to make cuts to pay for your weak offer #PayUp

Daniel Kebede (@danielkebedeneu) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This isnt an offer from Government it is an insult. £1000 non-consolidated. 4.5% in September AND UNFUNDED! I will be voting to REJECT. No more pay cuts! A teacher in 6th year: 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 £48.5k (from Jan) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 £44K (from Sept) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 £39K Vote no! Full funding and parity is what we need

Secret Headteacher (@secretht1) 's Twitter Profile Photo

So now we see the value of education. £1000, before tax, and a below inflation increase for next year of 4.5%. Not fully funded. Less than fire service, doctors, railway workers and the offer to teachers in Wales and Scotland. That’s how little they value education.
