If you haven’t watched the “Quilters” on @Netflix check it out. There are so many programs like this one in prisons all across the country. Consider visiting a prison to learn more. #VisitAPrison FAMM Foundation

🎉 Big news! Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Marshall issued new guidance on implementing the First Step Act & Second Chance Act to maximize use of home confinement! He also emphasized that FSA time and SCA time will be cumulative and stacked for conditional placement date calculations.

Families across the nation call us every day about extended lockdowns, retaliatory lockdowns, lockdowns due to lack of staff...#LifeonLockdown is not okay. FAMM Foundation

Advocates, family members, and legislators from both sides worked together tirelessly and passionately to make this happen. Thank you to so many, but mostly to Shawnna LM Bolick for leading this effort. So many will benefit from this. FAMM Foundation

Excited to see my colleagues Mary Price and Shanna Rifkin take new roles with FAMM Foundation! This team is phenomenal.

The Alabama Parole Board needs guidelines that consider the whole view of a person. FAMM Foundation was happy to echo Alabama Appleseed's comments in this respect. alabamareflector.com/2025/07/09/cri…

"Parole processes are a minefield of racial disparities, opaque processes, over-politicization, and little representation or assistance..." Fantastic work by Prison Policy Initiative, MacArthur Justice Center. prisonpolicy.org/blog/2025/07/1… cc: FAMM Foundation

I'll be on this Thursday and looking forward to spending time with our Illinois community! FAMM Foundation has a large Chicago contingent, including our members and staff - not least our President Shaneva D. McReynolds, Ph.D. and IL Policy Consultant Katrina Baugh who's leading this series.

Alabama is planning to build a 4,000 bed prison. Anyone who works in or around prisons, including the lawmakers who control the budgets, should read Alabama Appleseed's new report on prison reforms in other states making a difference. alabamaappleseed.org/news/appleseed… FAMM Foundation

If you’re at NCSL this week in Boston, visit my FAMM Foundation colleague Bryan Widenhouse at the National Life Without Parole (LWOP) Leadership Council table! National LWOP Leadership Council #SecondChances

If you live in Missouri, please join FAMM Foundation in telling the Governor's Working Group on parole that we need expanded access to rehabilitation and second chances! Click here: act.famm.org/a/mo-expand-ac…

“People who are sick and dying, who are simultaneously the lowest risk and the highest cost burden to the state, should be released,” says FAMM Foundation Equal Justice Works Fellow Molly Crane. She & NC partners are working to make that a reality in North Carolina. northcarolinahealthnews.org/2025/08/14/few…

Happy to see that North Carolina Governor Josh Stein's administration is hiring a Clemency Director. FAMM encourages all governors to lean into their clemency powers and use them robustly. #ClemencyNow FAMM Foundation governmentjobs.com/careers/northc…
