The narrative that is being blasted through the media in Aus right now about the answer to men’s violence is prisons. We’ve been doing prisons since this penal colony was established and it hasn’t and will not stop men’s violence.

Genuinely mental that the UK, Germany and France are considered more dangerous than Yankland and whichever Canberra hack decided that should be tarred and feathered

basically the point here is that if youd like to model your gender embodiment on characters like Him that is totally cool but also dont toss out the people in particular the women that characters like this are historical caricatures of in yr politics πŸ‘

in terms of embodiment which, while not bad by any means, often tossed out how the deprived state of these communities was due to the misogyny and gender oppression they faced

but this kind of thing was historically built on a hypersurveillance of the transfeminized person and the use and symbology of their body as something deeply anomalous and wrong. at the same time it became a kind of aspiration for a kind of queer political desire by others

i guess the reason i want to mention this is because for the past ~20 years in media its often the figure of the effeminate or trans womanized being that is considered a 'pinnacle of queerness' in the eyes of a cisnormative society

not trying to turn this into discourse i rlly dont care if you want to model Gender after characters like this feel free but keep the roots in mind so you can build better politics for today : )

fine to like characters like Him ofc, but context is something to keep in mind. the villain-making was often made in the manner of how stereotypes of the effeminate or transfeminized body was considered particularly 'wrong' at a time where trans women were sitcom punchlines

thats fine but i think ppl should be mindful how many characters like this are based in transmisogynistic stereotypes

This is incidentally a great synecdoche for the aspects of the ongoing Nakba that have formed my views: a two-state solution is unviable because it's far more than Israelis will tolerate and far less than Palestinians are entitled to.

this is just a commentary on electoralism, this isnt a commentary let alone a prescription on whether or not you should vote or who you should vote for etc. thats up to your circumstances
