In this paper we report on 20 retrospective and 50 prospective intraoperative patient samples, providing a classification within 2 hours of sample receipt and a full molecular classification within 24 hours using the unique real time features of Oxford Nanopore sequencing.

OK -here we go again. Both flowcells were paused last night at around 1400 pores. Flushed, reloaded and restarted. They've each recovered to around 5,200 pores and are back sequencing. The new flow cell has approximately 60 Gb from 1 load cf 46 Gb on the standard with 2...

There's a buzz around Multi-pass, Single-Molecule Nanopore Reading of Long Protein Strands, a recent nature publication from Jeff Nivala, Keisuke Motone / 元根 啓佑, Daphne Kontogiorgos-Heintz and colleagues. Watch this publication highlight where they discuss their work! youtube.com/watch?v=aaE7kZ…

So 1/3 more data with 1/3 less DNA (and its still going). I suspect that the difference in N50 is a logical consequence of the reduction in blocking as molecules don't get stuck in the pore and produce noise? We also see fewer whale sharks (1mb+ reads that don't map!)

In the last few months at Oxford Nanopore, we've made major strides in improving the accuracy of native DNA sequencing in bacteria, a challenging task due to bacterial DNA modifications. Watch my colleague Katherine Lawrence dive into the details: youtube.com/watch?v=rRFREd…

Breakthroughs take a lot of dedication and hard work. It's a huge privilege to have some of these recognised. Congrats to the amazing Oxford Nanopore team who build our technology and to our fantastic customers who bring the to life! nature.com/articles/s4159…

And native barcoding for Oxford Nanopore direct RNA sequencing has arrived ahead of Oxford Nanopore Events. Very impressive first runs Genome Technology Lab with >25 million reads (pre-basecalling) per flow cell. Analyzed data forthcoming!

New from the Rouhanifard Lab! What if we could sort single cells based on whether a specific gene was actively being transcribed—and then ask what drives that burst? Introducing: NuclampFISH
