Popped in to Commonside Cafe yesterday for a cuppa. The book swap shelves are full. People are taking books and bringing books. There are some lovely books for cooks. There's fiction, non fiction and children's books too. Do drop in. And please share to help us spread the word.

Christmas lights switch on in #MitchamVillage this Friday from 4pm. For your warm up beforehand pop into Commonside Cafe near the Village Pond (Three Kings Pond), less than 5 minutes walk away, where you'll find great coffee, tea, light bites and our book swap in full swing.

There's a Clarion Housing Group mailing list about its proposed development on Majestic Way in the heart of #MitchamVillage. Requires account with password rather than just email address. Account creation = barrier = fewer sign ups = public engagement fail. clarionconsults.co.uk/majestic-way

Good to have the model produced by local residents to demonstrate the overwhelming impact of plans for Church Road parade on surrounding buildings at our Open Meeting this evening

Hey - Merton Council read Professor Chris Whitty annual report please. It is clear: absence of public toilets is a barrier to active travel. You failed to deliver public loos in #MitchamVillage Rediscover Mitcham consult after "yes" vote in 2018. We still don't have them. Age UK London

And so it begins. Clarion Housing Group "EIA screening opinion" planning application for demolition of Majestic Way trails what we can expect in the full planning application - up to 11 storeys high and 6 storeys at lowest. The end of Mitcham Village? - where Majestic Way goes so Sibthorpe Road car park & other development sites will follow. Merton Council's new Local Plan sets a building limit of 6 storeys around Fair Green but every sign this rule is now being rewritten behind closed doors

Have you been to #MitchamVillage lately? The floral displays are still looking glorious as new flowers replace early daffodils and crocus.

Very excited about the prospect of a bandstand at Fair Green this summer (and into the future). Architect CharlesHollandArch is highly respected and their design is contemporary and bright. Just what we need to bring new ideas and new activities to #MitchamVillage.

The only image showing the full height of what Clarion Housing Group wants to put at the heart of #MitchamVillage on Majestic Way is a small insert, viewed from above on a larger board. The ground level image on that board is half the height and much less wide than the tallest block.
