It would be nice if United Airlines would fix their upgrades for families. Not only did it split eveyone onto a different PNR, instead of keeping us together, it upgraded 3/4 of us -leaving my 13 year old daughter back on her own in economy. Please fix your systems so this doesn’t occur!

I can tell you as a parent, I don’t always respond to my teenagers in the way I’d like to. I am going to try to use this thought to help me re-frame my responses when frustrated.

Aside from the exaggeration on the size of the tax cut (she is counting future tax cuts as an example), this might be another statement from Rep Omar where we share some common ground.

Freedom means responsibility. Interestingly, both sides of our ideological divide are forgetting this in their own way. One forgets the responsibility we have for our fellow citizens. The other forgets the responsibility we must have for ourselves. Both are necessary.

A shot a unity: irrespective of differences people have on these cases (elite opinion vs popular opinion) can we not unite in making fixing primary and secondary education for the poor our highest priority?

In general, trying to achieve social justice goals by manipulating college admissions seems misguided to me. If we want to help students who face adversity in life, we should redistribute money to the kinds of schools they're likely to attend not redistribute students.

Or maybe it is that many of us think that affirmative action is not an effective solution
