Recently P3/2 learned that the Gingerbread Man had went missing! Today he finally returned and the class worked really hard to describe the key events of his adventure in the correct order as part of their recount writing lesson. WL Literacy #murrayfieldreads

As part of #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek , P3/2 listened to 'The Koala Who Could' by Rachel Bright. We agreed that it can be scary to try new things but like Kevin if we give it a go we might just find something new that we like!

Murray the dinosaur needed some help from Primary 3/2 to choose the class story of the day. Using their first level reading targets the boys and girls examined the blurb, title, author and illustrator to vote for a story that the whole class could enjoy. #murrayfieldreads

P3/2 have been enjoying our weekly Mandarin lessons with Susan. Today we worked on greetings and colours, creating a fantastic panda to take home!

P3/2 are enjoying Dinosaur Week with the National Museums of Scotland! We have taken part in a Dino-no or Dino-yes quiz and impressed Miss Webster with our knowledge so far! We then watched a film which explored the museums dinosaur collection! #NMSSchools

Primary 3/2 participated in a numeracy Easter egg hunt today! The children worked in pairs to find hidden clues and answered questions on a range of topics they have worked throughout the year!

Learning about the incredible Mary Anning with my class in our dinosaur topic. Now by chance I’m seeing it all in real life and can’t wait to share with my wee stars after the holidays. #alwaysaschoolday

Had the best surprise today from some wonderful teachers and my fantastic classes past and present! I now have lots of ideas of how my dress should look which I will cherish forever! So lucky to be a part of Murrayfield Primary and privileged to teach so many fabulous children!

Another action packed day in the life of Primary 1W! This morning we welcomed our adults from home in to see our learning and join in with some activities. We had the best time and can’t wait to see you all again soon! #stayandplay

Today P1W learned all about Halloween. We used our developing fine motor skills to create mysterious monsters and mummies before investigating the inside of a pumpkin. Mrs Wishart was so impressed at the fantastic vocabulary used to describe what they found! #playbasedlearning

This week in our Oral Narrative session with Miss Akram P1W continued to work on describing the ‘who’ in stories. We were able to use key words to help describe our person or animal and asked our friends to guess from our descriptions. WL Literacy

Today in our Oral Narrative session with Miss Akram we have focussed on learning about the ‘where’ in a story. We worked together to decide where we would find different objects in different settings. There was lots of fantastic discussion from all the pupils!

This afternoon P1W and P1MS invited their adults from home to discover how they enjoy learning to read within the classroom. The boys and girls were so excited to show off the different resources and activities with their families #parentalengagement WL Literacy

P1W had a lovely morning with the MurrayfieldELC boys and girls to take part in #childreninneed activities. It was lovely to see children reunited with friends and showing me their old nursery. #makingmemories

Had a fantastic time during the trusted adult event today with a brilliant group of pupils. After making melting snowman biscuits we settled down to watch ‘The Snowman’ whilst eating our sweet treats! ⛄️ Murrayfield Primary

Recently P1W had a fantastic session with Mrs McIvor from Murrayfield Language Centre working on oral segmenting (listening for first, middle and last sounds in words) and tracking (in which we change one of the sounds to make a new word).

This week pupils in P1W have continued to consolidate their understanding of subtraction using a variety of practical materials. Working together to create number lines the children have then ‘counted back’ to solve some tricky calculations.

Primary 1W had a very special visitor in Mrs Boyd today. She introduced us to the story of Noah and the Ark and a fantastic song to accompany it. Mrs Wishart was so impressed at the pupils understanding of the moral of the story….to show kindness to all 🌈 🚤 🕊
