On our second day back we had a singing assembly and did a phonics lesson to recall all the sounds. We also used cubes to make towers and count within 20. We had so much fun!

This week, Browne class has learnt that primary colours are basic colours that can be mixed together to produce new colours. We loved painting!

Today we started the poetry unit. We listened to a few poems written by Julia Donaldson and in groups, we performed one of them in front of the class :)

Thank you so much Mrs Romuzga for organising this computing workshop in which we talked about what robots are. We used robots and controllers to code and debug light sequences and robots around a grid. It was so much fun!

In maths, we used a rekenreks to write number sentences and solve additions. We loved it!

Today we published our poems based on a poem written by Julia Donaldson. We used rhyming words and similes!

Yesterday Miss Torner was so impressed by Kizuku who used thousands to write subtraction number sentences. Well done Kizuku!

Browne class had an amazing time learning and practising karate. Thank you Mr.Odutolu for organising it!

Today, we discovered a mysterious crash site on the playground! We investigated the scene and quickly realised it belonged to Beegu, a lost alien in need of help. Later, we worked together to generate descriptive words to describe the appearance of Beegu.

This term, Year 1 is learning about pictograms in computing lessons and we have created a class pictogram about what fruits we like the most.

Today, we used a torch and a globe to learn and understand better how day and night work. It was so much fun!

Starla and Aayden got the weekly merits. Congratulations!

Browne class made fruit kebabs using the claw-cutting technique! We had so much fun.

Miss Torner is very proud of how Browne class performed the Nativity yesterday in front of their parents and carers. Tomorrow more!

Such a great pantomime! The children had so much fun and so did I. I didn't expect to be part of it and get so wet!

Today in science we learnt 6 different physical properties. We have been touching and investigating different objects and with our table groups, we discussed their physical properties such as hard, soft, dull, shiny...

Today Browne class measured classroom objects using cubes and paperclips. We used keywords such as shorter, longer and taller to compare lengths. We are looking forward to measuring using our rulers next week!

Dahl class have had a fantastic Spanish Day, learning Spanish from Miss Torner, learning flamingo dance moves from our workshop and creating portrait art similar to Picasso’s art 🇪🇸 Thank you toMiss Torner for organising such a great day! Whittingham Primary Academy
