Took a risk and tried something new with Y9 today. Trying to get them building connections between two proms we have recently studied. It didn't quite work as well as I wanted it to, but they gave it a good try! Need to refine & sharpen planning, but will definitely use again!

Last day of the (worst ever) academic year and last working Friday, for me, for the foreseeable! Here's to a 4 day week, from September - not compromising my career but more time to be just 'Mommy' πŸ’™

Every time there's some form of atrocity, with the perpetrator being not white and/or British, it appears some people think it's a free pass to pedal their ridiculous far right/fascist ideals. And in the midst of it all the victims, and their families, are forgotten.

The behaviour of some people in this country is utterly disgusting. I've never felt so embarrassed to be from the UK. Grown adults, fighting and attacking the police, burning public places, in front of THEIR CHILDREN - they very people they claim to protect. Dense and dangerous.

How can you be allowed to incite violence that harms innocent people? Whilst your children don't deserve to be hounded by the media you'd be a better father to them if you educated yourself and stopped glamourising hatred and contempt.

Finished planning a SOL for language paper 2, section A. Subject of the first two sources: Immigration. Funnily enough, I had started planning this last week, before the events that have unfolded over the last 7/8 days. Sometimes the universe knows what is needed, before you do.

Just to put this win into context: Arshad Nadeem didn't even have enough money to buy a new javelin. He didn't have proper coaching or a training facility. His village banded together to raise money to send him to the Olympics. Arshad’s win is cinematic.

Nothing prepares you for how gut wrenchingly awful it is when an adult actively discourages their child from playing with yours. It feels even worse when it's clearly obvious it is because your child isn't white.
