I am not ready to return to work, and reality, on Monday.

New year, new me going really well. Fruit & yoghurt for breakfast, salad for lunch. Salad was then swiftly followed by half a Terry's chocolate orange 🤷🏽‍♀️

Trying to explain the concept of developing photographs, to year 11 whilst teaching war photographer, today made me realise two things: I am old and I miss elements of life before the explosion of technology/the internet.

How can you demonstrate a skill effectively if you lack the foundational knowledge? The two aren't mutually exclusive. The problem isn't schools failing, it's the amount of time given to teach a wealth of knowledge AND application of it. It's NOT easy.

It's tone deaf to assume watching this in schools will fix the problem. Smart phones and social media should be completely banned for anyone under 16. That's what schools (I know many do) and parents must enforce. Remove the root of the problem if you don't want it to grow.

Would any English teachers/heads of department be interested in a service that writes SOWs and assessments, tailored to their needs, including CPD for staff?

How does everyone approach homework, for English? What are you setting? How is it marked/assessed? What is the frequency? I feel like we have exhausted all options!

Couldn't love this anymore. In today's climate I'd probably be classed as PP, but my home was calm, loving & my parents fiercely supported my education as well as keeping me fed & warm. I never wanted/needed pity. Just a level playing field to succeed. Stop labelling & assuming.

Took myself swimming tonight, as netball is a no go for a while. I consider myself to be fairly fit. Let's just say the pool humbled me. Quickly. 😂
