So now we see the value of education. £1000, before tax, and a below inflation increase for next year of 4.5%. Not fully funded. Less than fire service, doctors, railway workers and the offer to teachers in Wales and Scotland. That’s how little they value education.

What an absolutely shocking offer from Department for Education. You are insulting us. I can’t really afford to strike, but we can’t afford to be treated like this. The offer is NOT fully funded. Did you listen at all?!

I REJECT with every bone in my body. This offer is offensive and shows how little we are valued as teachers in England and the crippling effect this UNFUNDED increase (not inline with inflation) will have on schools.

Budgets are already breaking. Recruitment and retention is already breaking. Educators are breaking all around us. This is an utter- and I believe calculated- insult.

Tonight is a reminder that you can switch in minutes to join the National Education Union as your own union has not taken proactive action to address the woeful situation imposed on the teaching profession and join us in creating a bigger voice to strike. We need EVERY teacher #EnoughIsEnough

It almost doesn’t matter what the pay offer is. If it’s not funded it’s not possible. It really is as simple as that.
