Pls tune into this panel today (Sept. 23) at 12 pm AST to listen to Halifax Innovation District #innovation leaders discuss how best to #sustainably #feedtheworld Dr Darren Burke (he/him) Marc St-Onge Eli Browne #wcef2021

Have you heard of Outcast Foods? They rescue irregular, misshapen, and oddly twisted or colored fruits & vegetables. Learn how they're reducing #foodwaste by #upcycling the "outcasts” that get cast away: researchns.ca/beyond-researc… @PodstarterI Dr Darren Burke (he/him) StFX University

Oh yes he did! I love the spirit of the word “disruption”-> it means (to me) the storm of positive change (which is hard AF) followed by the (eventual) calm of a new and better way of doing things. Congrats Dr Darren Burke (he/him) and the team at Outcast Foods 🎉

In #Canada, an estimated 35 million tons of food is lost or wasted annually. Hear how Dr. Marica English of StFX University and Dr Darren Burke (he/him) of Outcast Foods are helping producers innovative to reduce #foodwaste. Listen: researchns.ca/beyond-researc… @PodstarterI StFX Human Nutrition

About to get on a plane to meet the Outcast Foods Burlington team as Dr Darren Burke (he/him) launches the 45,000 sq/ft #upcycling facility tomorrow (+ livestream 10 am EST via Outcast Facebook page). First flight since COVID. Travelling feels…weird?

Congratulations to Patrick Farrar for starting his role as Director of Innovation with the Halifax Partnership today!! Great team. Great mandate to support #Halifax’s growth through #innovation. Keep new’ing!

Gearing up for 100km BMO Ride for Cancer tomorrow (for which I’m I’ll-equipped, physically, to do, thus aaaack!;). Good luck to everyone raising funds for the QEII Foundation! See you at the finish line (..no I won’t as you’ll be long gone by the time I roll in 😜).

I’ve seen this superstar (Tara Wickwire) in action over the years - and cities - and no matter what comes her way, she’s got it covered. Tune in:

This was an incredibly exciting and informative event. Dalhousie University , Ocean Frontier Institute , Planetary and more are exploring #CDR , ocean alkalinity enhancement, scientific, societal and regulatory evolutions. Addressing #ClimateCrisis requires all hands on deck 🌊

$15 million has been awarded to a Dalhousie University-led team to explore the #ocean as a carbon sink. The research will investigate how a human-induced increase in ocean alkalinity could enhance the ocean’s ability to absorb and hold carbon. 🔵 (at)katjafennel(at)universeodon(dot)com dal.ca/news/2023/06/1…
