#HappeningNow The #EAAFP #MOP11 was tick-started with the tribal experience to deliver the Welcome to Country of Australia to our delegates.

Well the meeting has started and our delegate has taken his place around the table, which has now grown to be a full room when the observers are included.

Day 4 of #EAAFP #MOP11 We are visiting the North Stradford Island, to refresh, watch birds and enjoy the great nature. We also enjoyed the traditional dance by quandamooka tribe people.

The Korean visitors took my bird book to Tiri Tiri Island today, which they used to identify the birds, and with the lovely weather it looks like they had a great day

Meanwhile the third Red Knot satellite tagged HUC was seen today in the Manukau Harbour still quite happy sitting there, will it migrate or stay in NZ?

The satellite wearing Red Knot that has not left NZ yet, and is still based in the Manukau Harbour, must have known he had to go somewhere so flew down to Farewell Spit for a couple of days and back again, a round trip of about 800kms!!!

Jesse Conklin reports: we successfully tracked bar-tailed #godwit chick ‘B6’ from Nome, Alaska to YKD, where it staged until departing on 13 October. It flew non-stop to Tasmania, an estimated flight distance of 13,436 km in 11 days. This was a record. eaaflyway.net/juvenile-bar-t…

Over the weekend one of our members read the numbers on bands on live birds that we had banded, and found quite astonishing longevity, a White Fronted Tern is now 25 years 4 months and 4 days old, while a Black Billed Gull is now 27 years 4 months and 7 days David Lawrie

Worrying impact on shorebirds in the EAAFP from the use of nets to protect razor clam farms along China’s coast. 14,000 shorebird deaths recorded from just two sites. This can be easily avoided. chinadaily.com.cn/a/202312/04/WS…
