I voted against cuts to winter fuel payments. Politics is about choices, and the government has chosen to push pensioners into poverty. What’s next for means testing? The NHS? I will always defend the principle of universalism. That is how we build a fairer society for all.

At the start of my life I suffered from deprivation & cold, sleeping in freezing air-raid shelters during WW2. Now at near enough the end of my life, 86, housebound In poor health, I am worried about trying to keep warm. Who’d have thought it. 6th richest country.
