We can’t possibly expect students to take risks and embrace failure if they go to school in a system in which failure is punished. We need an evaluation overhaul. Ditch the fucking grades.

When they say SBG or mastery learning is too confusing, but their syllabus is like, "Up to one week late is 25% off, two weeks late is 50% off, and during Toyotathon everything is 75% off! But you have three passes to avoid the penalty. Or you can sell your firstborn."

If a student is failing - how many times did teacher contact parent? Offer tutoring? Allow redos? Make lessons engaging enough so students won’t be on phones? It’s all on teachers, and it’s exhausting. (I’m not against these things, but students should have responsiblity as well)
