i'm toying with this idea of going to bed early (9pm-ish), waking up at 5 am and crushing 5-6 hours of work with no other interruptions (no food, no workout, no walking the dog, no phone, etc.) and then just moving on with my day

My week was super exciting at #DataScienceAfrica at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology. Really learnt a lot from the speakers and got an opportunity to network with a number of Developers including Meta Engineers 🔥 - with Mr. Patel 🚀

We need a complete & total reboot of all US industrial policy, with chipmaking as one part of that bigger effort. But even if we can get it together to do this, the path to that goes through a long period when CCP has root on our domestic systems & steals or sabotages stuff.

1/ Reframe Your Identity: You are a professional sleeper Make sleep your #1 appointment in your calendar. Nothing influences your conscious or subconscious existence more. + Plan your day around sleep. + Ignore those who say sleep is for the weak. They’re drunk. + Get support

Now that I "work on LLM pretraining" -- read a really good paper from Dr. Baack @Mozilla about the Common Crawl, which lays out interesting questions/problems/insights around "good data in -> good models", "what does good even mean" and "what data is missing?"

Neil (@ministrike3) 's Twitter Profile Photo

A GREAT overview paper -- the authors do a great job laying out where LLMs came from, what they're doing, and where they might be going -- all without getting too technical!

Insane that I'm reading a paper for my masters where both Shreya Shankar and Aditya Parameswaran are authors -- shreyas tweets/posts are always great and Aditya actually taught my DB class University of Illinois; little did I know I'd end up @ the intersection of Data x SW x ML Research

Inspired by Shuren and Lelouch 👾 -- one of my christmas gifts to myself was taking the Math Academy Diagnostic -- felt like the 8+ years since I took math in undergrad slowed me down in my AI for Robotics coursework. Placed halfway through Foundations II

A study of 85,670 people –– going to sleep between 10 PM and 11 PM has the lowest risk of mental health issues. Those who went to sleep after midnight had a 48% higher risk. The science is clear on what happens next:
