the xz sshd backdoor rabbithole goes quite a bit deeper. I was just able to trigger some harder to reach functionality of the backdoor. there's still more to explore.. 1/n

The xz exploit only happened after a social engineering campaign to gaslight the maintainer(s) for not being responsive enough and then pressuring them to let someone else take over.

Think about that next time you're upset with maintainer responsiveness from FOSS you depend on.
