Exciting PhD project connecting Antarctic oceanography to Million Year Ice Core with Zanna Chase, Dr Helen Bostock, Taryn Noble & Joel Pedro. In the stunning lutruwita Tasmania. Open to international and local students. utas.edu.au/research/degre…

Processing the first shallow cores from Million Year Ice Core this week in our Hobart ice core labs. A long journey for these cores to the safe hands of Chelsea Long and Meredith Nation antarctica.gov.au Australian Antarctic Program Partnership.

A good day in the lab! The MYIC ice core continuous flow analysis (CFA) system is working nicely here on a selection of ice cores from EAIIST (East Antarctic Int'l Ice Sheet Traverse) Mega-Dunes. Great work from CFA whisperer Dr Chris Plummer! antarctica.gov.au Australian Antarctic Program Partnership @LennekeJong

Million Year Ice Core Sentinel-1 by European Space Agency spotted the traverse on Christmas Eve at S. 67.77, E. 112.18. Have a safe journey!

Merry Christmas 23/24 traverse team!! antarctica.gov.au

A bluebird day for the antarctica.gov.au Traverse Team as we continue our journey south across Antarctica to Little Dome C 🇦🇺 Million Year Ice Core

Happy New Year to the antarctica.gov.au Traverse Team who’ve now passed the half way mark to Little Dome C.

After a 17-day journey of over 1100km the antarctica.gov.au MYIC traverse team arrived Little Dome C today. Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼 Offering them a warm welcome (in the red suits) are Saverio Panichi (left) Beyond EPICA Field Leader and Riccardo Scipinotti (right) Concordia Station Leader.

Good neighbours! Appreciating the warm and tasty welcome from our friends and colleagues at Beyond EPICA 🍕🍕 🧊 🧊 👇

After 17 days covering nearly 1200km across Antarctica, the antarctica.gov.au Traverse Team have arrived at Little Dome C to deliver cargo and infrastructure that will support world-leading Australian science with Million Year Ice Core 🇦🇺

Thank you for hosting us Beyond EPICA - we couldn’t have asked for a better welcome to Little Dome C for the antarctica.gov.au Traverse Team 🇦🇺 🇪🇺

After re-anchoring the drill on the cable tonight we got back to drilling, but not before fixing some other minor issues. Those not involved in drill reparation had the chance to visit our Australian neighbors for coffee and cookies Million Year Ice Core 📸antarctica.gov.au

The MYIC site at LDC as it looks today, with new equipment set down by the antarctica.gov.au Traverse team to support our Million Year Ice Core science over coming years. Traverse now starts their long 🚜journey back to Casey. 📸John Cherry Australian Antarctic Program Partnership

Congratulations to the antarctica.gov.au traverse team, who’ve returned to Casey after their successful 2300km traverse to Little Dome C. Infrastructure and equipment delivered by the team sets us up for future seasons of Million Year Ice Core science 🙏 John Cherry Australian Antarctic Program Partnership
