Happy Earth Day from Milliken Mills High School! This morning, these two mallards were spotted on the pond at MMHS. #buildtheflockYRDSB Think about how you can protect the natural habitat of birds like these.

This Earth Day, think about the wildlife that inhabits our urban and suburban environments. Pledge to protect birds by risk-proofing windows and keeping cats indoors. Visit birdscanada.org for more ideas. #buildtheflockYRDSB

Like this egret spotted last year at Toogood Pond in Unionville, the heron, cormorant, loon, & kingfisher are large, fish-eating birds found in the GTA. Fun fact: The belted kingfisher used to be on the Canadian $5 bill. #buildtheflockYRDSB Thanks to Mr. S for the photo.

Thank you to the over 400 MMHS students and staff who came together virtually to describe which GTA bird they identify with and why. The Canada goose was the most mentioned bird -- maybe because there are so many around Milliken Mills High School. #buildtheflockYRDSB

MMHS students are marking the 40th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run by taking walks for mental health and fresh air this week. Students enjoy connecting to nature in our arboretum as they remember Terry's accomplishments.
