We all start off with similar looking genitals til about 7 weeks gestation.
But whether we are male or female is determined at conception by the sperm having either an X or Y chromosome. Egg has an X.
So...
XX = female.
XY = male.
2 sexes from conception.

It's an age old mistake.
Lack of penis = girl.
Penis = boy.
Girl therefore equals a lack of something whereas boy equals a presence of something.
Girls lack something. We are lacking.
Think about it.
