Fare thee well, legendary #HerbieFlowers, begetter of the greatest bass riff of all time (Walk on the Wild Side) and also one of the warmest, most generous fellows you could hope to work with, which I first did way back in 1978. Gentle and brilliant in equal measure.

I have seen some amazing things whilst serving on the ships of the British Antarctic Survey 🐧 and a sucker fish clinging to the side of the RRS James Clark Ross mid-Atlantic was one of the strangest. It would be exposed everytime the ship rolled #wildlife #wildlifephotography

These rare wave clouds spotted in Kettering in Northamptonshire last night look like waves breaking on a beach. They're called Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds and are caused by winds blowing faster at the top of the cloud than at the bottom. Photo: BBC Weather Watcher Mr P

RIP James Earl Jones 😢 A legendary actor whose powerful voice and iconic roles, such as Darth Vader in Star Wars, left an indelible mark on cinema, and whose character we were privileged to feature on a stamp back in 2015.

Herne Bay station was renamed "Herne Bay & Hampton-on-Sea" from June 1880.  New station signage was erected to reflect the proposed development of the Hampton-on-Sea estate before the coastal erosion took hold. It officially reverted back to Herne Bay in March 1951.

The Cheshire Gap is on full display today ⛰️🌦️⛰️ Showers feeding in on a northwesterly wind are blocked by the English and Welsh hills, instead funnelling through the lowlands of Cheshire This is why some areas have seen repeated showers, whilst others have remained dry
