Algernon Blackwood's "The Man Whom the Trees Loved" - one of the *great* works of weird fiction. Also, Daphne du Maurier's "Not After Midnight."

Nour Abi-Nakhoul's Supplication is one of the more ambitious horror novels I've read from this young decade: a protracted phenomenological nightmare written in prose that hurtles, careens, and disintegrates like its anonymous narrator's reality. Recommended.

Happy birthday to Scarlett R. Algee, editor extraordinaire and also a terrific writer. I highly recommend her collection Bleedthrough and Other Small Horrors.
