dignityincare.org.uk/Discuss-and-de… It seems the GMC #GMC does not have an X account [at least I couldn't find it]. Anyway: the GMC has been 'distorting' the situation re MCA best-interests determinationd and relatives.

An e-mail I've just sent. How are ADRTs combined with ReSPECT forms? RCUK @NWAmb_Kieran Prof. Mark Taubert Answers from anyone who completes ReSPECT forms, would be appreciated. And views from anyone who has got a ReSPECT form. @patientsass

The start of an e-mail from NICE. I got the impression that the RC(UK) implied, to the Covid-19 Public Inquiry, that NICE 'recommends' that the entire UK adopts ReSPECT - I asked, and NICE is NOT recommending the adoption of ReSPECT, as you can read in my screengrab.

The covering text for my piece (the PDF you can download) at dignityincare.org.uk/Discuss-and-de… about the significance of the 'diagnostic test' of the Mental Capacity Act. I think s2(1) should not be necessary, if we are applying s 3(1) properly. #MCA Prof. Mark Taubert @luc

Part of an EAPC blog I've just read. Back ca 2010, when I became interested in EOL, the DH EoL Lead told me that EoL care for cancer was much better than for heart disease, etc. Why (see screengrab) is that still the case? Prof. Mark Taubert Prof Katherine Sleeman Kathryn Mannix

I would be interested in any views from doctors, about the surgery example in the screengrab (from my PDF at dignityincare.org.uk/Discuss-and-de… ). Would the consent from that patient, be valid? Shinichi HISAMATSU

I'm feeling the urge to explain - yet again - why the ReSPECT form is unsatisfactory: the form gives a misleading impression to anyone who doesn't understand the MCA and other relevant law, as to 'who can legitimately decide what, when, and how'. dignityincare.org.uk/Discuss-and-de…

These days I see more TV dramas when CPR doesn't restore life, but if it does the patient is 'back to normal' - I don't see the 'alive but permanently comatose' outcome [for example]. Prof. Mark Taubert Is this a problem - does it mislead the public re CPR?

See dignityincare.org.uk/Discuss-and-de… I would like to know if doctors see section 2 of the Mental Capacity Act as important (perhaps 'useful' would be a better word), or is it just lawyers? Personally, as my piece points out, I can't see how it is [correctly] useful-in-practice.
