Excellent thread not just on the chicanery of Maugham (and by extension, some other SIGs) but also on the conclusions that can (and cannot) be drawn from studies rigourously applying the scientific method. And some free logical fallacies thrown in from the QC for free...

This is REALLY good from Helen especially as she is obviously working on the fly with the document. Towards the end though she hits on a genuine issue - this is not a question of left and right. Everybody benefits from a functioning marketplace of ideas especially in the academy

Not heard Inaya Folarin Iman before but this was a really impressive discussion which gives me genuine hope that there is a way back from the brink we seem to have found ourselves on. Give Free Speech Champions a follow and some support - their work is important and so needed right now!

Is the only conclusion of this awkward realisation that the new policy is a "bad one"? Or a necessary evil? Can it be rationalised away by "it's only controlling what cannot be said" or is that really no different to state control? Something needs to be done - but not this?

One of the best interviews on Triggerpod recently. It will be a huge loss to the teaching profession if a man so passionate about critical thought and equipping students with key skills is driven out of his vocation by hurt feelings. Well worth an hour of your listening time.
