So so sosososo much. It’s despairing honestly. I’ve literally written 10+ grants in last two years, almost all hitting just short of the ~10% paylines. So much time and productivity completely wasted.

Spent a year creating 12 stable cell lines for a major experiment, only to find a huge duplication in the original plasmid sequence. Time to trash everything and start from scratch. Please sequence plasmids fully, even if they come from Addgene!

It's June already? Just 1 month left to submit your abstract to the EMBO ER meeting in October. Don't miss out! meetings.embo.org/event/24-er

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the ONLY thing needed for an initial paper submission should be a single PDF. It should take 30 seconds. All this other metadata nonsense should not hold up the review process and should be handled by the journal anyway.

My PhD supervisor Toon de Kroon has a 3.5 year post doc position available Utrecht University studying the role of Acc1 and FAS in establishing the lipid acyl chain composition. uu.nl/en/organisatio… Working with Toon was a joy during my PhD. I’d highly recommend joining his lab!

We have a new postdoc position coming soon :D. To help tease apart the cellular functions of lipid transporters involved in bacterial cell envelope homeostasis... using bacterial genetics, cell biology, and biochemistry. Reach out if you are interested and please RT!

Happy and proud to see this pre-print online. What started out as a worrying observation turned into a side project and then an intriguing investigation. We show that 5 widely used yeast ‘wild type’ strains differ drastically in their lipid composition! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Various features of the Seipin complex remain enigmatic . Some good old-fashioned biochemistry by Yoel Klug helps us understand how the Seipin complex organises... highlighting a role for neutral lipids #lipidtime
