The environmental health and safety office at my university just sent out an email requiring us to complete a safety training module on using a ladder.

Looking to amplicon 16S sequence a small number of samples, and don't have a full MiSeq run planned any time soon. Can anyone recommend a seq center that will take individual samples? Thx!

Is ASM reconsidering the #Microbe2023 meeting in Texas? Between the lack of gun regulation, and copious policy against women, people of color, non-US nationals, members of the LGBTQIA and trans communities, etc., going to Texas is not safe for any of my lab members.

Have any of you replaced the blue laser in your Guava Easycyte flow cytometer? Quote from Luminex is rough (unreasonably so, IMO), and so I would like to compare with others.

I have been broken down in a Hertz rental car for 22 hours now. No tow truck, no replacement car..... Flat-out stranded. Had to find accommodations last night or sleep in the car. I can't believe you survive as a company treating customers like this, Hertz.

It has been a challenge, but one of the more intellectually rewarding journeys we've been on. Congrats on getting that first thesis chapter out there, @Kolaban!
