I’m delighted that Shaffaq Mohammed will be joining the Lib Dem team in the House of Lords. @ShaffaqMohd has dedicated his life to youth work, public service and local government. He will be an excellent peer, standing up for young people, our environment and for Yorkshire.

Throughout my time as Leader, @MarkPack has been a constant source of support and sound advice. As a part of our Lords team, I know Mark will bring all his experience to work tirelessly to make politics more open and transparent to the public.

🚨 NEW: Kemi Badenoch on the Lib Dems - Considers them a “protest party for mainly people on the left” - “They are not on Twitter, but they are in local communities” - “They will destroy the whole country” From DailyWire interview with Jordan Peterson 👇 politics.co.uk/news/2025/02/1…

I'll take "being in local communities". For us that's a huge part of what politics actually is: listening to people about what matters to them. And then doing practical stuff to sort it out. Feels like the country is up for that, honestly.

The Lib Dems are really bloody good at local campaigning. Despite lacklustre national opinion polls, they have polled higher than Labour across avg of council by elections. Meanwhile, Reform is underperforming their implied polling position - suggesting a lack of organisation.

The BBC are constantly bending over backwards to please Reform. I fear they're becoming a mouthpiece for Nigel Farage, a guy who wants to destroy them.

Conservative MPs think the crisis in special educational needs provision is one big laugh. Couldn’t be more out of touch if they tried.

Calling all developers... Has anyone built a plug-in for Zoom or Meet that transcribes the meeting, and makes a simple visual of how long each person spoke for, and a breakdown by e.g. gender? If not, feel there's a proper market for this for e.g. charity trustee boards...

The PM should invite Mark Carney for an official visit and address to Parliament before Trump’s visit. It would show Britain backs Canada against Trump’s damaging trade war. Now is the time to stand with the Commonwealth, not stand in Trump’s shadow like Nigel Farage.

Spot on. And not just the Beeb - Nigel Farage MP gets a very easy ride because he is treated as fellow commentator and fellow mainstream media critic of main parties. Never gets challenged on his Brexit role. Rarely on actual policy. Well said Ed Davey

.Liberal Democrats are now level with the Conservatives in national opinion polls. (And we are the only party beating Reform in local elections, week in, week out.) The Conservative Party is finished. Join us now libdems.org.uk/join

Another stonker of a week for us - gaining from the Conservatives and the Green Party in Surrey and from Labour in Preston. The media might not tell you this but the Lib Dems are winning all over the place. This week's by-election scorecard 💪 Lib Dems 7 Reform 1 Con 1 Ind 1

We just defeated Nigel Farage’s Bill in Parliament to tear up people’s rights and withdraw from the ECHR. Farage wants to do away with the Britain Churchill built and turn it into a version of Trump's America. We stopped him.
