Fortes in fide - Strong in faith. 35 years with a whistle around my neck, a bunch more as radio color analyst for UND football. Often wrong, but never late.

We celebrate our hero veterans today. “Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.”

Seems like a lot of assistant coaches being fired nowadays - "I have never fired a coach. Barring some unusual off-field incident . . . if a coach is not doing his job, the bottom line is, I brought him in, he's my responsibility, I've got to make him better." Chuck Knox.

The incredible work ethic and passion that Eric Schmidt displayed as a player and assistant at UND, has been elevated as head coach. Believe it, and hang on tight folks!

I tried to watch the Penn St-Boise St game last night, but there was so much posing & gesturing after routine plays that I had to turn it off. I know, I know, I'm showing my age. I'll shut up and go watch Lawrence Welk now.

Sadness, but with prayers of hope and recovery for the many who've lost their homes in the L.A. area fires. Personal memories have turned to ash as I recall the world of my youth in Pasadena/Altadena - in places that no longer exist. Godspeed.

Normalize this by age 25: 1. Talk slow. 2. Be clear. 3. Never mumble. 4. Don't interrupt. 5. Listen twice more than you talk. To all men, how best can a man best improve his communication skills?

58 football seasons - player for 8, coach for 35, color analyst for 15. I've heard it and said it many times, "Football is the ultimate team sport." I fear that it is fast becoming a "Look at me!" sport. We can't afford to lose track of what made it great over its long history.

Dear Walk On Player, thank you for years of hard work and dedication. Unfortunately, you are number 106 on our list of players. Your gear and that of twenty or more others must now sit unused. Your passion, commitment, and tuition and fees are much appreciated. Best wishes.

Coach, help your players who are receiving NIL offers to choose wisely. Securing an investment/tax professional who's not associated with one of the "agents" who are showing up and saying all the right things would serve him well. Your mentoring didn't end with the last game.

Wrong sport reference, but once again the Kem & El Zagal Shriners, Mayville State University, and the NDHSCA hit a home run with the North Dakota Shrine Bowl. Well done to all, even Mother Nature couldn't strike you out.

The strength and conditioning coaches and equipment personnel who work with athletes throughout the summer could use a sincere, "Job well done!" They're often behind the scenes, but the wheels fall off without them.

No more waiting, it's time to kickoff high school football in the Great North. Best wishes to all of North Dakota's teams this season.

Praying for so many broken hearted in Minnesota. Even when grief drives us to our knees, He is there. He gives us strength to endure life's unspeakable tragedies.

It's Minnesota's turn to kickoff high school football today. Best wishes to all, there's nothing like game day for a high school player.

Funny thing about football… and life. The players who invest the most time, energy, and effort into preparation are usually the ones who shine brightest on game night. Those who don’t prepare? They struggle. Time promotes and exposes! It is what it is! Life works the same way.
