Chalk and cheese, apples and oranges, cats and dogs, C64 lovers and Spectrum lovers…. The gulfs between these things can be large. So is the improvement in this new audio circuit on the Issue 4 board compared to the old one. Tape loading is more of a pleasure! #ZXSpectrumNext

On this day in 2019, the Spectrum Next keyboard was still in development hell. The split contact membrane was still on the table and the plan now was to move the contacts to within 0.35mm of each other. Hindsight is wonderful. Give it up it won’t bloody work! :) SpecNext Ltd

On this day in 2018, texture samples were sent to our case manufacturer for matching. Rick Dickinson often collected items that appealed to him. In the case of the Spectrum Next, the textures were based on a keyboard he had once collected. Cut in half and sent on its journey!

I talk about the Xberry-Pi, a fully SpecNext Ltd compatible board in the form factor of a Raspberry Pi, created by Don Superfo. I love it. youtu.be/lFudlR7znyo

Thanks to Rob Taylor and the team known as “The Board Folk Team”. This amateurish and useless solderer (me) has improved a great deal (shaky hands and all). Not long now and it will be complete. If it works it will be miraculous. Never attempted anything like this before.
