But one paper that I considered is on the checkpoint algorithm in NDB, Partial Local Checkpoint. Haven't really seen any papers on incremental MainMemoryDB checkpoint algorithms. Probably because it is a really hard problem. Took 2.5 years to implement.

Yep, which formed the base for RonDB documentation docs.rondb.com. A colleague is working hard now to improve this docs and making it more pedagogic and extending it even further.

Great article, there is also another method to get Grafana. github.com/logicalclocks/… gathers stuff into Prometheus. github.com/logicalclocks/… contains code for 11 dashboards in Grafana and triggers for some events as well.

Post on testing RonDB, quote from it: This makes it clear that building a DBMS and a data platform is very beneficial for the quality of the DBMS. mikaelronstrom.blogspot.com/2024/03/testin…

The scan can even be a join of many tables with filtering on each table and getting data from one table in evaluating a later table

In my view real-time usually means that there is a human user waiting for the result. In most cases this means responding in milliseconds unless the user is willing to wait for a longer time.

What I discovered when I implemented Query Threads with up to thousands of CPUs is that a single server is definitely a distributed systems where the concept of time is acutely visible.

Nice picture showing how NDB Cluster works and how RonDB 21.04 works. In RonDB 22.10.4 the query threads are replaced by query workers in LDM threads, Receive threads and TC threads and main thread and replication thread thus ensuring that all CPUs are effectively used. Gains 30%
