Unbelievable. Gutted for England but WHAT a series. Brook and Root’s stand, India’s comeback, Woakes batting in a sling - iconic. Test cricket over five days...there's nothing like it.

What the world witnessed today was pure Test cricket magic. The Oval delivered one of the most gripping contests in the history of the sport. Salute to both BCCI (India) and England Cricket for this masterpiece.

What a change has come over Indian cricket since I first started watching it in the 50s. Then India was the land of great spinners, Gupte, Chandra, Bedi, Prasanna and Venkat to name a few. The 1971 Oval winner was Chandra. Now it is seam and Siraj.

Indian cricket was once known as Lions at home and Lambs abroad. This series shows they are Lions abroad. Mind you they did lose a series 3-0 to New Zealand, the first ever whitewash at home. Hope they do not become Lambs at home.

He was also very good at the press conference speaking mostly in Hindi but also in English. Sometimes an English word while speaking Hindi. Made a few jokes in Hindi that had the Indian journalists laughing.

In honour of Siraj, India's match winner, who gave a very interesting press conference where he spoke in Hindi and English Caroline Cecil Bose and I have opened a bottle of Shiraz although I am sure he does not drink. But we drink to him.
