I remember I was once at A. Murat Eren (Meren)'s old UChicago office and noticed he had a swoopy looking keyboard. I didn't understand why it was used. After only computational work the last 4 years, I get it. A good keyboard can be expensive, but so is having a repetitive stress injury.

Increasingly finding this helpful: Data "analytics" is about what happened. Counts. Amounts. Description of the past Data "science" is about what we can infer from that beyond that dataset (inference), causal conclusions, and what we can predict in an automated way (ML)

Is there a worse airline than United Airlines? Going on a nearly 2 hour delay for a regional domestic flight. Trying to see if there's anything worse out there because United Airlines feels like the bottom of the barrel.

I like that the eDNA metabarcoding ecology people are reinventing the amplicon analyses of microbial ecology from 10-15 years ago. This is a mostly solved problem.
