We are horrified at the news that Michigan elected officials were among those listed as targets by the assassin of Minnesota State Rep. Hortman. We’ve seen politically motivated violence touch our state before and we must say clearly: this is terrifying and must be condemned.

We are watching the transfer of power from constituents to big-dollar donors right in front of our very eyes. Thanks to Republicans, those in need will lose life-saving services, all to give tax breaks for the wealthiest among us. What a Big Bullshit Bill.

249 years ago, America was founded. We broke free from a ruthless tyrant to establish our democracy. But today, the fight for our democratic values are far from over. We honor our founding by continuing the work to build a nation that truly lives up to its promise.

It’s high time the Democratic party stop ignoring the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. We’re witnessing children and people our age starving to death through our own phone screens. It’s heartbreaking and it’s dystopian. The time to act is now.

If we’re all agreed that everything going on in Gaza is bad, are we going to revisit those students who were prosecuted for protesting it?

This Labor Day, we honor the students who keep our campuses and communities running. Too often, workplaces profit off student labor while failing to protect the very people who keep them running. That has to change. Today and every day, we stand with our student workers.

Mike Rogers wants to “make Detroit safe again.” Step one: actually live in Michigan Detroit doesn’t need the National Guard. It needs politicians who know where it is on a map. Florida man runs for Michigan Senate, wants to send troops to Detroit. You can’t make this crap up!
